What is driving like in the UAE?
Driving in the UAE is generally comfortable and straightforward. The roads are modern, wide and well maintained, with signs in both Arabic and English. Depending on your nationality, you may need both a valid driving licence and an International Driving Permit (IDP), so check the current requirements before you travel.
Toll roads, such as the Salik system in Dubai, are automatically registered through the rental car and charged afterwards.
What should you wear in the UAE?
At hotels, beaches and swimming pools, regular swimwear and summer clothing are generally fine. In public places such as shopping malls, modest clothing is appreciated, with shoulders and knees covered.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi has stricter dress requirements. Women should cover their arms, legs and hair, while men should wear long trousers and a top with sleeves. If you don’t have suitable clothing with you, appropriate garments are available at the mosque for visitors to wear during their visit.
Do I need a visa for this trip?
Visa requirements for the UAE depend on your nationality. Travellers from many countries can enter without applying for a visa in advance and receive a free Visa on Arrival, typically allowing a stay of up to 30 days. Your passport generally needs to be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival.
Always check the latest entry and visa requirements for your nationality before travelling, as regulations can change.
Is it possible to extend the trip or adjust the itinerary?
Of course! Since all our trips are tailor-made, you can customize your trip entirely to your liking. Would you prefer to spend an extra night in the Ras al-Khaimah desert, add a few more days at the beach in Abu Dhabi, or extend your stay in Dubai? Feel free to let us know, and we’ll adjust the itinerary and car rental arrangements for you.
Can you also organize excursions and activities for us?
Absolutely! We can book a variety of activities for you in advance. These include fast-track tickets for the Burj Khalifa, admission tickets for the Louvre Abu Dhabi, or a guided desert tour in a 4×4.
Is this trip also suitable for families with children?
Yes! The United Arab Emirates is very child-friendly, safe, and clean. Travel times are short, and in the UAE you’ll find great theme parks like Yas Island in Abu Dhabi or Aquaventure in Dubai, which we can add to the itinerary to make the trip even more fun and varied.
What if we'd rather not drive ourselves?
That's no problem at all. We can easily arrange this journey with private transfers instead. A private driver will take you from hotel to hotel on your travel days, with the option to arrange transfers from your hotel to excursions and back as well.
