The itinerary

Days 1–4

Krakow

You’ll start your journey in Kraków, one of Poland’s most beautiful cities. The historic centre feels like an open-air museum, with colourful squares, centuries-old buildings and atmospheric streets where you can happily wander for hours. Rynek Główny, the Main Market Square, is the heart of the city, home to the impressive St. Mary’s Basilica and the famous Cloth Hall. Wander through the trendy Kazimierz district, discover its rich Jewish heritage and explore Kraków’s food scene. From traditional pierogi and zapiekanka to fine dining, the city is a great place to discover Polish cuisine one bite at a time. Beyond its historic charm, Kraków is also a gateway to important sites that tell more of Poland’s history. From here, you can visit Auschwitz-Birkenau, the former concentration and extermination camp that holds an important place in European history. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is another fascinating place to visit nearby, with impressive underground chambers and intricate salt sculptures.

Days 5–6

Wrocław

Leave Kraków behind and head west towards Wrocław, one of Poland’s most surprising cities. While Kraków is known for its historic charm, Wrocław has a younger, more creative feel. At the heart of the city is the impressive Rynek, one of Poland’s most beautiful market squares, surrounded by colourful façades, lively terraces and historic buildings. Cross the bridges along the Oder, explore the city’s oldest district on Ostrów Tumski and keep an eye out for the hundreds of tiny bronze gnomes hidden throughout the streets.

Days 7–9

Książ Castle and Surroundings

Leave lively Wrocław behind and continue towards Lower Silesia, a region of castles, rolling green hills and fascinating stories from the past. Here, you’ll discover a quieter side of Poland. You’ll stay in the Wałbrzych area, an ideal base for visiting the impressive Książ Castle. Tucked away among the forests, this fairytale-like castle is one of the largest in Poland. Wander through its historic rooms, admire the unique architecture and enjoy the views across the surrounding countryside. Another highlight of the region is the UNESCO-listed Churches of Peace in Jawor and Świdnica. These remarkable wooden churches were built in the 17th century and feature spectacular interiors filled with paintings, balconies and intricate details. From the outside, they may look rather simple, but step inside and you’ll soon understand why they have been recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Beyond culture and history, the region also offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Head into the hills, explore charming villages and discover a side of Poland where traditions and nature remain very much part of everyday life.

Days 10–11

Poznań

Continue your journey to Poznań, a colourful city with a rich history and a surprisingly lively atmosphere. Although Poznań is less well known than Kraków and Wrocław, it’s the city’s history, food scene and local charm that make it so special. The beautiful Old Market Square is the heart of Poznań. Admire the colourful merchants’ houses, the impressive Town Hall and the city’s famous goats, which appear on the clock tower every day at noon. Then wander through the historic streets and along the Warta River. Be sure to try the local speciality, Rogal świętomarciński, a sweet almond pastry that is an integral part of Poznań’s culinary heritage.

Days 12–14

Gdańsk

On the shores of the Baltic Sea lies Gdańsk, a city that looks like a postcard but is so much more than its beautiful façades. Colourful merchants’ houses, narrow streets and historic warehouses tell the story of a wealthy trading city that has been connected to the sea for centuries. Wander through the beautiful old town, admire the iconic Crane on the Motława River and take your time to appreciate the city’s remarkable architecture. But be sure to look beyond the historic centre too. Gdańsk has a fascinating and complex history. Visit the Museum of the Second World War, for example, and learn more about the Solidarity movement, which played an important role in the fall of communism in Poland.

Days 15–16

Sopot

After exploring historic cities and soaking up plenty of culture, you’ll finish your journey in Sopot, an elegant seaside resort on the Baltic coast that might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of Poland. Yet it offers an amazing relaxed holiday atmosphere, along promenade, wide sandy beaches, fresh sea air and an ambience reminiscent of classic European spa towns. Sopot became a popular seaside retreat for European high society in the 19th century, and its elegant character is still very much present today. Stroll along the famous wooden pier, wander the promenade and admire the atmospheric villas and historic spa buildings that give the city its distinctive charm. But Sopot is about more than relaxing by the sea. The city also has a surprisingly vibrant food scene. Enjoy fresh fish, atmospheric restaurants and inviting terraces where you can spend the final days of your trip overlooking the Baltic Sea. Tip: Sopot is home to several spas and wellness centres, perfect for slowing down and fully unwinding at the end of your journey.

What's it like to drive a car in Poland?

Driving in Poland is relaxing and very comfortable. The highway network (A and S roads) connecting major cities such as Kraków, Wrocław, and Gdańsk is modern, well-maintained, and well-lit. As you travel through Lower Silesia, you’ll drive along quiet, rural roads past green hills and historic villages. Some highways have tolls, which you can easily pay by debit card or cash at the toll booths.

Is this trip suitable if I want to add special historical excursions?

Yes, definitely. The itinerary offers a good balance between cities, culture, and the Baltic coast.. Would you like to add iconic historical sites such as the Wieliczka Salt Mine, Książ Castle, or the former Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, or book them in advance?? Let us know. Since tickets for these UNESCO sites sell out quickly, we're happy to adjust the itinerary and reserve the time slots you want for you.

What about paying in Poland?

The official currency is the Polish złoty (PLN). You can use contactless debit cards or credit cards almost everywhere. It’s just a good idea to carry a small amount of cash in złoty with you for a local market or if you want to tip.

Is Poland a safe vacation destination?

Absolutely! Poland is one of the safest and most welcoming countries in Europe. The cities are incredibly clean, easy to navigate, and pleasant to walk through, even in the evening. Because we work exclusively with small-scale boutique hotels, high-quality accommodations, and reliable partners, you’ll enjoy both the country’s authentic character and a carefree, comfortable tour..
