Atlantis, a place on the Spanish island Ibiza<\/a> which is both a mystery and a natural beauty. If you ask us what left the biggest impression during our time on the island, it would definitely be Atlantis. This hidden gem is not only a beautiful spot to swim in the salty sea, but also a place with a fascinating story. The striking rock formations give you the feeling of wandering through a sunken city. No wonder it was named after the myth of Atlantis. The beautiful and mysterious Atlantis Ibiza<\/h2>

What makes the mystery of Atlantis in Ibiza even greater is the fact that there are no signs pointing you there. What we do know, however, is that it\u2019s hidden close to the breathtaking viewpoint of Es Vedra<\/a><\/strong> and Torre de Savinar. Although the myth of a sunken city makes a visit to Atlantis especially captivating, we found that the real story behind it is different, but still fascinating in its own way.\u00a0<\/p>

Atlantis is actually a former quarry. Because it lies so close to the shoreline, salty seawater has flowed into the carved-out pits over time, creating stunning natural pools. How do you get to Atlantis?<\/h2>

The mystery surrounding Atlantis is exactly what keeps travelers chasing the \u201csunken city.\u201d We, too, took a wrong turn at first and unexpectedly ended up at the Es Vedr\u00e0 viewpoint. To help you get there without the detour, here\u2019s our step-by-step guide to reaching Atlantis.\u00a0<\/p>

Most importantly, you need to have a rental car, for example through SunnyCars<\/a>,<\/strong> because without a rental car, reaching Atlantis isn\u2019t possible. Navigate to Sa Pedrera and follow the signs to the Es Vedr\u00e0 parking lot, or use the following coordinates:\u00a038\u00b052'21.2\u2033N 1\u00b013'50.2\u2033E<\/strong><\/a>. From here, you\u2019ll start your hike to Atlantis. The hike to Atlantis<\/h2>

From the parking lot, pass the wooden fence and continue walking until you reach a fork. You\u2019ll notice a flattened fence with signs asking you to be quiet and not leave any trash. Don\u2019t take the path down to the right, instead, pass through the flattened fence (see photo for reference). If you want to visit the Es Vedr\u00e0 viewpoint first, continue straight here; otherwise, turn left to head toward Atlantis. Whichever way you go, you\u2019ll eventually arrive at the stone circles. Note: Legend has it that you shouldn\u2019t descend further until you\u2019ve placed a stone in the circles.\u00a0<\/p>

The first part of the hike is fairly challenging, with a steep descent. There are no marked trails, so you\u2019ll need to go downhill by feel. We took a different route on the way back, so here\u2019s our recommendation: from above, stick to the right to eventually reach the sand dunes. If you head left, you\u2019ll mainly navigate rocky terrain. The choice is yours, depending on what kind of hike you prefer. The entire trek from the parking lot to Atlantis takes about 45 minutes.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Swimming in the natural water pools\u00a0<\/h2>

Once you reach the bottom, you\u2019ll immediately be greeted by the rock formations that make up Atlantis, the \u201csunken city.\u201d Just one last scramble down, and you can dive into the refreshing seawater pools. It\u2019s an incredibly fun and stunning place, behind every rock, there\u2019s another hidden pool or scenic spot waiting to be discovered. Take your time to wander and explore, and be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks, as there are no facilities here.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
