You are surrounded by stately buildings, old patrician houses and you walk through narrow streets and along old city walls.\u00a0<span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">A visit to the city can be well combined with a day trip to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/travander.nl\/en\/luxembourg-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luxembourg City<\/a><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">. But also a walk through the M\u00fcllerthal region should not be missed when visiting Echternach. There is plenty to do in the area\u00a0<\/span>so. Only pedestrians are allowed to walk. The historic center is a tourist attraction and this can be seen in the many restaurants, terraces, cafes and stores. Especially in the summer months Echternach is crowded. But also in autumn, the period we were there, it is worth visiting the city.\u00a0<\/p><p>Echternach is also known for its jumping procession. This is a Catholic procession held every year on Tuesday after Pentecost in memory of St. Willibrord who founded the Abbey of Echternach in 698. The leaping procession was included on UNESCO's Intangible World Heritage List in 2010. The processional march lasts about 2 hours and you can attend.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section The tomb of Willibrordus and the basilica survived the war. In 1950, the abbey was rebuilt to its original forms. Christian shrine in the area.
