data-end=\"2007\">Many travelers choose to stay overnight in Ayutthaya, but we did it differently: we visited Ayutthaya as a day trip from Bangkok. And that turned out to be a great choice for us. In just one day, you can see and experience a lot, especially if you leave Bangkok early!<\/p><p data-start=\"2009\" data-end=\"2285\">If you have more time, staying overnight in Ayutthaya is also enjoyable. You can have a nice dinner in the evening, explore the temples in a quieter atmosphere, and take your time discovering the city. data-end=\"2460\">We visited five different temple complexes in Ayutthaya ourselves, and the great thing is that no two temples are the same. These are our favorites:<\/p><ul data-start=\"2462\" data-end=\"2967\"><li data-start=\"2462\" data-end=\"2636\"><p data-start=\"2464\" data-end=\"2636\" class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Wat Phra Mahathat<\/strong>: the highlight of Ayutthaya, famous for its Buddha head entwined in the roots of a Bodhi tree;<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2638\" data-end=\"2821\"><p data-start=\"2640\" data-end=\"2821\" class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Wat Yai Chai Mongkol<\/strong>: this temple is known for its giant reclining Buddha and impressive chedi (stupa). You can also climb up for a nice view;<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"2967\"><p data-start=\"2825\" data-end=\"2967\" class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit<\/strong>: a beautiful hall housing one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in Thailand. Definitely worth stepping inside;<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"2967\"><p data-start=\"2825\" data-end=\"2967\" class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Wat Phra Si Sanphet<\/strong>: this temple was once part of the royal palace and is considered one of the most important and impressive temples in Ayutthaya;<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"2967\"><p data-start=\"2825\" data-end=\"2967\" class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Wat Lokayasutharam<\/strong>: at this temple, you\u2019ll find one of Ayutthaya\u2019s most impressive statues, a giant reclining Buddha measuring 37 meters long.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element
