Yes, as a Dutch traveler you need a visa to visit Cambodia. A "visa on arrival," also called a tourist visa, is the most common. It is possible to obtain this visa upon arrival at the international airport or border crossing. This visa is valid for a 30-day stay, and can be extended for another 30 days.

A trip through Cambodia is not complete without visiting the following popular sights:

  • Angkor: The Angkor temple complex is the icon of Cambodia and is considered the largest religious monument in the world. The temples of Angkor, including Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm, attract thousands of visitors every year. In our opinion, these are the most beautiful temples of Angkor.
  • Phnom Penh: the capital of Cambodia offers two historical sites to visit. These are the:
    • Tuol Sleng prison;
    • Killing Fields.

Some popular beach destinations in Cambodia include the tropical islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem. Both islands are known for their beautiful white sand beaches, turquoise seawater and pristine nature. Our personal favorite is the island Koh Rong Samloem.

Two other popular destinations in Cambodia are Kep and Kampot. The seaside resort of Kep has a small beach, is mostly a quiet and charming place to stay and is known for its delicious seafood. Kampot, by the way, is not a beach destination, but it is close to the coast. The picturesque setting is what draws travelers to this place.

Cambodia is considered a safe country for travelers to visit, but as with any travel destination, it is important to determine the locals with respect. Always make sure you do not carry your valuables visibly. Last but not least, traffic in Cambodia can be chaotic in the larger cities. Therefore, pay extra attention when crossing, and only use reliable and licensed cab drivers.

It is always wise to be aware of the latest travel advisories before arriving in Cambodia, for this it is best to check out national government.
