If you choose tropical Aruba, you’re choosing a pleasant and relaxing beach vacation. Forget the crowded coastlines and gray weather back home—on this One Happy Island, you’ll swap the daily hustle and bustle for powder-white sand between your toes, a warm breeze, and golden sunsets over an azure-blue sea. From lively coves with trendy beach bars to hidden, tranquil gems where all you hear is the sound of the waves. In Aruba, you won’t just have a typical beach vacation—you’ll embark on a journey along the coastline to discover Aruba’s most beautiful beaches.

1. Mangel Halto Beach: swim and snorkel among the mangroves

Setting your alarm for 7 a.m. might not sound like part of a relaxing vacation, but if you want to have Mangel Halto Beach almost all to yourself, and secure one of the shady spots, it’s definitely worth getting up early. Located on Aruba’s southeastern coast, Mangel Halto is completely different from the island’s wide, open sandy beaches. You reach the beach via a wooden walkway that leads you into a unique landscape of dense green mangroves. Here, the bright white sand gives way to shady spots beneath the trees, with small palapas tucked between the mangroves. The real highlight is the sheltered lagoon, where the water is incredibly clear and beautifully turquoise.

The calm, shallow water along the coast makes Mangel Halto a wonderful place for swimming and floating around, while kayaking is another great way to explore the mangrove-lined coastline. Be sure to bring your snorkel gear, too. Once you swim a little farther toward the reef, you’ll discover a colorful underwater world where you may spot parrotfish, rays and vibrant coral.

Our best tip for visiting Mangel Halto Beach: bring your own cooler with drinks and snacks, as there aren’t many food and drink options directly on the beach. If you’re craving a proper lunch, hop in the car and drive a short distance to Zeerovers, where you can enjoy some of the freshest seafood on the island.

2. Rodger’s Beach: enjoy the turquoise sea away from the crowds

An oil refinery as the backdrop to your beach day may not sound like a typical Caribbean dream. But don’t let the industrial silhouettes in the distance put you off. Rodger’s Beach is one of Aruba’s best-kept secrets and a great alternative to the island’s busier beaches.

While most travelers head straight to nearby Baby Beach, we actually prefer getting out of the car one bay earlier. At Rodger’s Beach, you’ll find a quiet and almost untouched stretch of coastline with bright blue water and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere.

Rodger’s Beach may not be the most postcard-perfect beach in Aruba, but that’s exactly what we love about it. Its rugged, untouched character gives the beach a charm of its own. The sand is just as soft as elsewhere on the island, while the calm waters make it a lovely spot for a refreshing swim. Roll out your towel, open a good book and enjoy the tranquility, occasionally interrupted by the sounds of local fishermen preparing their boats for the day.

Just like at Mangel Halto, we recommend bringing your own cooler with drinks and snacks. If you’d rather grab something to eat or drink, you’ll find several options around nearby Baby Beach.

3. Baby Beach: a beautiful bay for swimming and snorkeling

Picture a huge, crescent-shaped bay with seawater in every shade of turquoise imaginable. Welcome to Baby Beach! It’s certainly no longer a secret among travelers, but it’s easy to see why this beautiful beach is so popular. The bay is protected from the open sea by a large man-made rock barrier, creating calm, warm and shallow water that’s perfect for swimming. It’s also a great spot for families and anyone looking for a relaxing swim in Aruba’s crystal-clear Caribbean waters.

If you want to go snorkeling, swim toward the opening of the bay. This is where the underwater scenery changes, revealing a lively marine world filled with tropical fish and colorful coral.

Baby Beach is well equipped for a relaxing beach day. You’ll find plenty of parking, several palapas providing shade, sun loungers for rent and various spots where you can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a refreshing drink.

4. Manchebo Beach: ultimate relaxation on Aruba’s widest beach

One of our favorite ways to start a day in Aruba is with a morning Pilates class on the covered wooden deck at Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa. Afterwards, you can head straight to the resort’s terrace for a healthy breakfast and a fresh smoothie, and your day is already off to a great start. If you’d like to spend the rest of the day under one of the resort’s palapas, you can purchase a beach day pass. Availability is limited, though, so you’ll need a little luck to get one.

Manchebo Beach is the widest beach in Aruba, giving you a wonderful sense of space and tranquility. While some of the island’s beaches can feel quite busy, here you can stretch out on the soft white sand and enjoy plenty of room around you. The ocean is a little more powerful here, with refreshing waves that make the beach feel wonderfully open and wild.

Stay at Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa

The Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa is one of our favorite wellness resorts in Aruba. This intimate boutique hotel sits directly on the sandy beach and features a beautiful beachfront spa, making it an ideal place to slow down and recharge. It’s no surprise that we regularly include this resort in our tailor-made Aruba itineraries. If you’re looking for a combination of luxury, tranquility and wellness, Manchebo is an excellent choice.

5. Arashi Beach: spectacular sunsets near the lighthouse

In the far northwest of Aruba, tucked away in a rugged and beautiful landscape, you’ll find Arashi Beach, one of the best beaches on the island. The drive to the beach is part of the experience, taking you past large villas and eventually into a landscape dotted with towering cacti. In the distance, you can spot the iconic California Lighthouse rising above the horizon.

The beach itself is wide, with calm and crystal-clear water that’s perfect for swimming and snorkeling during the day. But for us, the best time to visit Arashi Beach is during golden hour, when the sun slowly begins to disappear below the horizon. Make sure to find a good spot on the sand before the end of the day, because the sunset here is one of the most spectacular on the island. The sky turns vibrant shades of orange and pink, creating a beautiful contrast with the silhouettes of the surrounding cacti. It’s the perfect place to end a day in Aruba.

6. Renaissance Private Island: luxury on a private island

If you’re looking for a day of tropical luxury, a visit to Renaissance Private Island should definitely be on your Aruba itinerary. From the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort in Oranjestad, you can hop on a boat and reach this private island paradise in just 15 minutes. The island is divided into two beach areas: Flamingo Beach, the exclusive adults-only area, and Iguana Beach. Both are beautiful in their own way.

The atmosphere on Renaissance Private Island is relaxed, tropical and distinctly luxurious. Everything you need for a perfect beach day is right here, from stylish beach bars and a boutique shop to overwater hammocks and luxurious VIP cabanas.

Staying at Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort? Access to the private island is included for resort guests. If you’re not staying at the resort, you can purchase a day pass, but keep in mind that availability is limited. Tickets are released online every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. for the following week, so they can sell out quickly.

Staying at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort

Want guaranteed access to the private island while staying right in the heart of Oranjestad? Then Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort is an excellent choice. One of the resort’s biggest advantages is its two distinct areas: the lively Ocean Suites, which are suitable for families, and the exclusive adults-only section with its own pool. As a resort guest, you can simply head to the hotel lobby and take the boat across to the island. You’ll have access to the private island throughout your stay, making it easy to combine a city break in Oranjestad with a luxurious beach escape. This iconic resort is one of our personal favorites, and we regularly include it in our tailor-made Aruba itineraries.

7. Eagle Beach: Aruba's iconic beach

A list of the best beaches in Aruba simply wouldn’t be complete without Eagle Beach. This is the beach you’ll find on countless travel posters and in magazines around the world. And honestly, it’s easy to see why: Eagle Beach is absolutely stunning. The beach is long and wide, with powder-white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. It’s also home to Aruba’s famous, windswept fofoti trees, which have become one of the island’s most recognizable natural landmarks. If you’ve seen photos of Aruba before, chances are you’ve seen one of these distinctive trees standing against the Caribbean Sea.

That said, Eagle Beach isn’t our personal favorite for spending an entire day. Because it’s one of the most famous beaches in Aruba, it can get quite busy, and the many resorts behind the beach mean it doesn’t feel as secluded as some of the island’s quieter spots. But don’t get us wrong: Eagle Beach is absolutely worth a visit. Take a refreshing dip in the sea and, if you can, snap a photo with one of the iconic fofoti trees. It’s a classic Aruba experience you shouldn’t miss.

Explore Aruba's best beaches by rental car

Aruba’s beaches are spread across the entire island, from the rugged northern coastline around Arashi to the calm bays in the south. That’s why we recommend renting a car in Aruba if you want to explore the island’s best beaches at your own pace. Public transportation doesn’t reach every beach, and taxis can quickly become expensive. With your own rental car, you can easily hop from one beach to another, stop at viewpoints along the way and decide exactly how long you want to stay at each spot.

For renting a car in Aruba, we recommend SunnyCars. Their all-inclusive rental car service is particularly convenient: insurance is included, there’s no excess, and you won’t be faced with unexpected additional costs when picking up your car. That makes exploring Aruba’s coastline a lot more relaxed.

Check available rental cars in Aruba and compare your options before your trip

Unlike many other holiday destinations, parking at most beaches in Aruba is free. Still, always avoid leaving valuables visible inside your car, especially when parking at quieter or more secluded beaches.

When is the best time to visit Aruba?

Aruba is a fantastic year-round destination, especially if you’re looking for sunshine and warm temperatures. With an average temperature of around 30°C (86°F) and a constant tropical breeze, you can enjoy the island’s beaches in almost every season. That said, there are some differences throughout the year worth keeping in mind when planning your trip:

  • December through April: This is generally considered the best time to visit Aruba if you’re looking for the driest and sunniest weather. Expect plenty of sunshine and very little rain. Keep in mind that this is also high season, and Aruba Carnival takes place around February and March, bringing colorful celebrations and a lively atmosphere to the island.

  • May & June: A great alternative if you want sunny weather with fewer crowds. Most winter visitors have left the island, while temperatures remain pleasant and the chance of rain is still relatively low.

  • July & August: These months coincide with the summer holidays, so Aruba tends to be busier and more lively. Temperatures can reach around 32°C (90°F), although the ever-present trade winds help keep things comfortable.

  • September through NovemberThis period is officially part of the rainy season, but don’t let that put you off. Rain showers are usually short and intense rather than lasting all day. Often, a tropical shower passes in the morning or overnight before the sun comes back out.
