- Central Vietnam - temperatures are fairly constant all year round, the only thing to consider is the rainy season. September and October are considered the wettest months.

Vietnam is a fairly safe destination for travelers. Violent crimes against tourists are rare, but watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Even on scooters or at markets, someone will sometimes want to quickly zipper away your bag. So don't leave valuables dangling loose.
Vietnam has a good network of night trains, buses, domestic flights and scooters. For long distances, domestic flights are convenient (such as from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City), while night trains are ideal for an authentic travel experience. In smaller towns and rural areas, it is best to rent a scooter to ride around.
Vietnamese food is healthy, flavorful and affordable. Be sure to try dishes like pho (noodle soup), banh mi (stuffed baguette), bun cha (grilled meat with noodles) and fresh spring rolls. Street food is safe to eat, especially if you choose places that are crowded.
