Looking for the best hotspots in Lisbon? From trendy breakfast spots and cafés to atmospheric restaurants and bars, in this article we share our favorite hotspots in Lisbon. From places where we love to start the day with a great coffee to restaurants where you’ll want to linger until sunset. Perfect to combine with sightseeing during a city trip to Lisbon and its top sights.

1. Restaurante Ponto Final: Restaurant by the Tagus River in Lisbon at sunset

Restaurante Ponto Final is one of Lisbon’s most unique restaurants, famous for its stunning location right on the Tagus River. To reach this hotspot, take the ferry across the Tagus to the Almada neighborhood, just across the city. From the old port, it’s a scenic 10-minute walk along the waterfront toward the bridge, where this traditional Portuguese restaurant awaits.

What makes Restaurante Ponto Final so popular is its breathtaking view over the Tagus River and the Lisbon skyline, especially at sunset. The menu features classic Portuguese seafood dishes, including sardines, monkfish, and other fresh catches. A truly wonderful spot for anyone looking to dine by the water in Lisbon and enjoy a cozy, atmospheric restaurant with a view. We visited with a group of friends and enjoyed an unforgettable (and above all delicious!) evening out in Lisbon.

Address: R. do Ginjal 72, 2800-285 Almada // Price range: €€-€€€€€

2. Copenhagen Coffee Lab: breakfast and coffee in Baixa

One of the hotspots in Lisbon that we always love returning to is Copenhagen Coffee Lab. As the name suggests, this café chain originates from Copenhagen, Denmark, and now has multiple locations across Europe, including several in Lisbon, Portugal. The city boasts no fewer than 14 locations, with our favorite spot in the Baixa neighborhood. At Copenhagen Coffee Lab, you can enjoy all-day breakfast dishes, amazing coffee, and plenty of other treats, all while sitting on the terrace with a view of the iconic Santa Justa Lift.

Copenhagen Coffee Lab is also a favorite workspace for digital nomads living and working in Lisbon.

Lisbon is known for its hills and staircases, which you’ll definitely notice when exploring the Chiado neighborhood, one of the city’s most popular areas. Here, you’ll find not only some great sights but also the cozy hotspot Baobá Café Bica. In our opinion, it’s the perfect spot to take a break from all the climbing. At this lunch café in Lisbon, you can enjoy delicious iced chais and a menu full of tasty dishes, including avocado toast and açai bowls.

4. Cervejaria Trindade: dine in Portugal's oldest beer brewery (in Chiado).

After a day of wandering through the hilly Chiado district, looking for a unique place to have dinner? Be sure to step inside Cervejaria Trindade. This is the oldest, and perhaps most beautiful, cervejaria (beer hall) in Portugal. The history of this iconic spot dates all the way back to 1294, when the building originally served as a monastery. After being inhabited by monks for centuries, it was transformed into a brewery in the mid-19th century and has been operating as a restaurant since 1934.

You’ll dine in a vast vaulted hall decorated with stunning blue-and-white azulejos (traditional Portuguese tiles) that are nearly 200 years old. Hidden away at the back, you’ll also find a beautiful courtyard terrace that adds even more charm to the experience. The menu features excellent traditional Portuguese dishes, along with fresh fish and meat specialities. Our tip: don’t miss the croquetes as a starter and the flavourful tomato rice (arroz de tomate). An absolute must for a memorable evening filled with atmosphere and history.

5. Pastéis de Belém: Lisbon's most famous pastel de nata

Belém is one of the most charming neighborhoods in Lisbon, and in our opinion, it’s a must-visit. Not only can you taste the famous Pastéis de Belém here, but you’ll also find some incredible sights. Back to the pastries: Pastéis de Belém are flaky, custard-filled tarts, traditionally enjoyed sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. The original Pastéis de Belém have been made since 1837 at the Confeitaria de Belém, following a secret recipe. This is the only place where these pastries are officially called Pastéis de Belém, everywhere else in Portugal, they’re known as Pastéis de Nata.

A box of 6 pastries costs €9.60, while a single tart is €1.60. Keep in mind that there’s usually a queue for this popular, authentic Lisbon treat — but trust us, it’s absolutely worth the wait!

Address: Rua de Belém 84 a 92, 1300 - 085 Lisboa // Price range: €.
