Cities in Spain that you absolutely want to discover
One of the first places we recommend visiting is, of course, Madrid. Spain’s vibrant capital is the perfect starting point for a road trip through central Spain. The city effortlessly combines culture, gastronomy and lively energy, instantly getting you into vacation mode. You can spend hours wandering through its charming streets and bustling squares, stopping for a coffee or a traditional Spanish meal along the way. From Madrid, it’s easy to rent a car and continue your journey to historic cities such as Toledo and Segovia. Toledo feels like a true open-air museum, where every narrow street tells a story, while Segovia is famous for its impressive Roman aqueduct and fairy-tale castle. Another advantage is that both cities are compact and easy to explore in just one day, without feeling rushed.

The charm of inland Spain: hidden gems, villages & timeless landscapes
What stays with us most is the unique atmosphere of inland Spain. You drive through vast plains, past olive groves and small villages where life still largely takes place outdoors. It’s a completely different experience compared to the busy coastline, but because of that it feels so special and calming. Along the way, you’ll come across places where you spontaneously stop for a coffee or lunch, without having planned it. It’s exactly these unexpected moments that make the journey so memorable. A tip we often follow ourselves: occasionally take the smaller roads instead of the main routes and pass through local villages. That’s how we discovered charming Chinchón, where you arrive at a beautiful village square surrounded by traditional houses with wooden balconies. Have a short stop, a drink, and soak up the local atmosphere. And most importantly: there’s no need to rush from highlight to highlight here, because the journey itself is just as beautiful as the destinations.
