Lefkas, also known as Lefkada, is located on the west coast of Greece, in the Ionian Sea. It is connected to the mainland by a movable bridge, making the island easily accessible by car. If traveling by plane, the nearest airport is Aktion International Airport (PVK). This airport is located on the mainland in the town of Preveza. From Preveza, it is then about 1.5 hours' drive to arrive on Lefkas.

There are direct flights from Amsterdam to Preveza. These are operated by Transavia and the flight takes just over 3 hours.

The best time to travel to Lefkas is in late spring, summer and early fall, from May to October. During these months you can enjoy pleasant temperatures, plenty of sunshine and warm sea water. The summer months of July and August are the warmest and also the high season. If you want to avoid the crowds and high prices, consider going in the early or late season.

Lefkas is home to a number of wonderful sights. Among other things, the peninsula is known for its beautiful beaches, but the monastery of Panagia Faneromeni is also highly recommended. Scattered across the island you will find several villages where you can stay. The most popular and busiest place on the island is Lefkas Town, followed by the seaside resort Nidri. Other popular vacation destinations in Lefkas are NikianaAgios NikitasVasilikiSivota and Lygia

During our stay on Lefkas, we stayed in the village of Nikiana. Nikiana is a small and sprawling village, located about 10 kilometers from Lefkas town. We stayed at the super fine Porto Galini Resort & Spa. A hotel with a private beach, two pools, a gym, two restaurants, a Sea Salt Spa & Wellness, a Kid's Club and a wide range of activities (such as yoga, tennis and supping).

Another hotel we recommend is Odyssey Hotel in Agios Nikitas. This is a unique, small-scale and car-free vacation address on Lefkas. The hotel Odyssey is tucked between Agios Nikitas and Milos beach.
