But where is the best place to stay on Lefkas? This is a question that cannot be answered with just one place name. Lefkas is in fact incredibly versatile. Most vacation destinations on Lefkas are located on the east and south coast, while the most beautiful beaches, for example, can be found along the west coast of the island. The most popular destinations in Lefkas to stay at
Lefkas offers a fine mix of lively seaside resorts and quiet coastal villages. The most popular and busiest place on the island is Lefkas Town, the capital of Lefkas, followed by the seaside resort Nidri. Other vacation destinations on the green pearl include Nikiana, Agios Nikitas, Vasiliki, Sivota and Lygia.
Beautiful trips to Lefkas
1. Lefkas Town
The most popular place to stay on the island is Lefkas Town. You will find a pleasant promenade and a wide range of restaurants, stores and entertainment venues. The island's bustling capital attracts culture lovers and adventurers alike. It is also the most popular place on Lefkas among young people. Lefkas Town's marina and the Archaeological Museum are two of its main attractions. The nearby beaches also make Lefkas Town a fine place to stay.
Hotel Tip: the hotel Lefkadio Suites, an affordable and nice stay just outside the city center. You will enjoy a lovely pool, spacious rooms, good beds and a large balcony. Ideal for those seeking peace and quiet, but still want to be close to conviviality.
2. Nidri
Nidri is the second largest town on Lefkas and at least as popular as Lefkas Town to stay. Beautifully situated in a green bay, the resort has an organized beach overlooking bobbing sailboats in the Ionian Sea. Thanks to its calm waters, Nidri is an ideal destination for families with children.
Behind the beach runs a lively promenade full of cozy taverns and bars where you can enjoy Greek cuisine. From Nidri you can also take beautiful trips, such as to the Dimosari waterfall, which is a short distance from the center.
Staying Tip: the apartments of Azul Apartments, within walking distance of the beach and Dimosari waterfalls. You have modern air-conditioned rooms, a nice pool and a nice garden. Plus point: a fully equipped kitchen, ideal if you want to prepare your own meals from time to time.
3. Agios Nikitas
Another fine vacation spot on Lefkas is Agios Nikitas. It is a small and car-free fishing village on the island, about 13 kilometers from Lefkas town. Agios Nikitas has about 100 inhabitants, many of whom still work in fishing. The village surrounds an idyllic bay and is surrounded by green, hilly surroundings. Especially very nice here are the cozy Greek-blue terraces you find on the way to the beach.
Tips for accommodations: the hotel Tellion Suites is a beautiful and cozy accommodation a few minutes' walk from Agios Nikitas beach. The suites have beautiful bohemian interiors, lovely sea views and are ideal for two people. Plus point: the garden with barbecue and good reviews from previous guests.

4. Nikiana
Nikiana is an elongated fishing village on the east coast of Lefkas and a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for peace, nature and good location. The village is located between Lefkas Town and Nidri, so you can drive everywhere in no time with a rental car.
Nikiana is surrounded by a green mountain landscape full of cypresses and olive trees. At the foot of the village is a small picturesque harbor with sailing yachts and fishing boats. In the center you will find a handful of cozy tavernas where you can dine authentically and relaxed.

5. Vasiliki
Vasiliki is located on the southern coast of Lefkas and is the hotspot for windsurfers and sailing enthusiasts. Thanks to the ideal wind conditions and crystal clear water, it is a true paradise for water sports enthusiasts. But even if you do not actively go on the water, Vasiliki is a fine destination.
The cozy harbor, cozy taverns and relaxed atmosphere provide that typical Greek vacation feeling. The green hills and picturesque landscapes in the area also make it a great base for walks and tours through nature. Whether you come for action or relaxation: in Vasiliki you're in the right place.

6. Sivota
Sivota is located on the southeastern coast of Lefkas and is somewhat less known among travelers. The traditional village is home to some beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters and white sand. Sivota is surrounded by lush green hills. It is the ideal destination for those seeking rest and relaxation.
7. Lygia
Lygia is a small village 6 kilometers away from both Lefkas Town and Nidri. Originally a fishing village, it has developed tremendously in recent years in terms of tourism. Lygia is located exactly opposite the Greek mainland. In Lygia there is a long, rather narrow pebble beach. This beach is a lot quieter compared to other resorts. There is also a fishing harbor with moored sailing yachts.
