Abseiling from the Euromast, do you dare? We admit: it was one of the most exciting things we have ever done! But what an experience. At a height of 100 meters, dangling from a rope, we enjoyed a panoramic view of our beloved city of Rotterdam. For a moment we forgot that we still had a long way down. But while you're up in the air, you might as well take a moment to take it all in, right?

Europe's highest abseil
The Euromast is an icon on the skyline of Rotterdam. A beautiful hotspot where you can not only enjoy breathtaking views, dine in the restaurant and stay overnight at an insane height, it is also the highest abseiling location in all of Europe. And then also the highest location where you dangle with your feet loose in the air. The section takes about 15 minutes and you can abseil a maximum of two people at a time.
Every year from June through September, you can visit on Saturdays and Sundays abseiling from the Euromast. The cost is €67.50 per person, which includes the entrance fee to the Euromast. The first few meters of abseiling the Euromast are captured by a professional photographer. You can view the photos afterwards and purchase them for a fee.
Our experience: an adrenaline rush from 100 meters high
With buckling knees, we arrived at the Euromast and saw how others were already hanging tough from the ropes. We checked in at the reception desk and then took the elevator to the fifth floor. There an enthusiastic team was ready to reassure us. We were given gloves and a special harness, to which the ropes were attached. And after a clear explanation, the moment was there....
The most exciting part? Slamming your legs over the railing and lowering yourself onto the outside edge. But once we were suspended, a magical feeling overcame us: this is the time to trust yourself! Step by step we descended. As soon as our feet no longer had contact with the Euromast, we were completely free in the air. Pretty scary, but also insanely cool!
The first part you abseil past the restaurant. You might think, "Oh no, everyone is watching! But the smiling and encouraging people inside just gave an extra boost. Then we could really enjoy the breathtaking view of Rotterdam. What an experience!
Physically tough? The beginning requires some strength: you have to pull the rope up yourself to descend further. But the lower you get, the easier it goes. Once down, we stood on the ground with big smiles and shaky legs. This was truly a bucket list experience!
Tips for abseiling

Put on comfortable and long pants (shorts can be done, but will chafe faster).
Put on closed shoes (for example, sneakers).
Do you have long hair? Bring an elastic band!
Enjoy! It's an incredibly cool experience so take your time beforehand to take it all in.

The Euromast offers many more spectacular experiences besides abseiling. Visit the observation deck and enjoy a 360-degree view of Rotterdam and its harbors. Want to go even higher?
