Eating out cheaply, is it actually still possible? It seems almost impossible in a city like Rotterdam eating out for less than 10 euros per person. Still, it must be possible, so I set out and visited several hotspots in Rotterdam. And with success! Because there are still plenty of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy tasty food without spending too much money. It may not be fine dining, but you can still have a good and tasty meal. Affordable dining in Rotterdam? Visit these hotspots!
1. Cafe Stalles
At Stalles you can sit and have an incredibly cozy drink. You'll find 9 different pizzas on the menu for €10 or less. Do you prefer drinks? Then share some mini frikandellen, vegetarian spring rolls and a fries. That way you'll have a good base to enjoy one (or more) whiskeys they serve at Stalles!
2. Café van Zanten
Café van Zanten is one of the few restaurants in the center of Rotterdam where you can sit until late, and eat for less than €10 per person. You can eat delicious dishes like the Van Zanten Burger, Wiener Schnitzel and Fish & Chips for only €9,50.
3. Supermercado
The hotspot Supermercado offers Mexican dishes to share according to the shared-dining concept. So you can order empanadas for €3.75 and tacos for €4.50. Order some Patatas Fritas on the side for €4.25 and you have put together a nice Mexican tasting menu!
4. Eazie
Eazie you may know mainly as a takeaway, but both the Blaak and Korte Lijnbaan branches have cozy places to sit. You'll find full wok dishes and poké bowls on the menu starting at €8.95.
5. Happy Italy
Located at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge you will find one of the branches of Happy Italy. A place where you can eat out inexpensively in Rotterdam while enjoying a beautiful view of the river Maas. The menu consists of many pizzas and pastas for under €10.
6. Happy Sushi
Are you hungry for sushi, but don't want to spend too much money on it? Then I have found the hotspot for you. At Happy Sushi you can sit inside and order an 8-piece sushi roll for €9. That way you'll have your sushi craving appeased quickly and inexpensively!
7. The Ball Tent
The Ball Tent is a real household name in Rotterdam. In this old-fashioned café you eat a meatball with fries, 2 croquettes with fries or pancakes for less than €10. The ideal spot!
8. 21 Pinchos
Are you out with a friend and would like to share some goodies? At 21 Pinchos share 4 pinchos (toasted bread with toppings) for €12 total. And with a tortilla, patatas bravas or 4 pieces of chorizo or truffle croquetas added for €8, you're not even at the €10 mark per person. But then you have a nice Spanish tapas menu composed!
9. Eatery De Nieuwe Kaap
On Katendrecht, just behind the Fenix Food Factory, you will find the authentic Eatery The New Cape. From Turkish pizzas to hair salons and burgers, you can find almost everything here for under €10.
10. Auntie Nel
Want to share a fries, though? Then get a large fries with, for €3.85 per person, at Auntie Nel in the heart of Rotterdam. In addition, choose a frikanNel, (vegan) croquette or cheese soufflé, for about €5, and you've got a good snack evening under your belt.
11. Wok To Go
At the Wok To Go on Coolsingel you can also take a seat in the restaurant to eat, and you won't experience the feeling of being in a takeaway restaurant. So do you want to eat out inexpensively in Rotterdam? This is a nice place with tasty dishes. You can choose from all kinds of veggie, meat and/or fish wok dishes from €8.
12. Shabu To Go
Also at the Shabu To Go you can have a great seat in the restaurant. This central spot in the city is a great place for people-watching. Are there two of you? Then order for example the triple maki box of 18 pieces for €10,95 and add the 8 pieces of California Salmon for only €6,90 and you are less than €10,- per person!
