Discover the best Christmas Markets in Koblenz this holiday season

It is remarkable that a city can revive so much in the weeks leading up to Christmas. In fact, Koblenz is a great destination for a city break all year round, but so in the winter months it is a city that buzzes with life. Spread over several squares in the city, you will find a total of 6 Christmas markets in Koblenz. Of course we recommend you to visit all the Christmas markets in the city, but you can certainly get the cozy atmosphere of a Christmas market even if you only visit one.

Tip: Make sure to bring cash to the Christmas market, as not all stalls accept card payments.

1. Willi-Hörter-Platz (Rathaushof).

One of the Christmas markets in Koblenz that made an atmospheric and cozy impression on us is the Christmas market at Willi-Hörter-Platz. Here you will also find the famous Schängel fountain as well as the cozily decorated courtyard of the Rashaushof. Would you like to order something to drink here? Then go for the Merlot or Chardonnay mulled wine!

2. Jesuitenplatz

From the Christmas market at Willi-Hörter-Platz you can walk straight to the next cozy Christmas market in Koblenz, which is Jesuitenplatz. Here you are right in the heart of the old town. The Christmas market is therefore surrounded by beautiful buildings.

3. Am Plan

Close to Our Lady's Church and several more historical sights you will find the Christmas market Am Plan. It is a big beautiful square with nice smelling Christmas stalls and cozy people. We enjoyed around this market freshly roasted almonds coated in sugar and can definitely recommend it!

The square "Am Plan" was formerly used as a market, tournament and event site. Originally laid out in Baroque style, the square was eventually modernized by Elector Clemens Wenzeslaus von Sachsen, who also had Koblenz Castle built. The square was named "Am Plan" because it was the first square in Koblenz to be paved flat.

4. Görresplatz

A cozy but also definitely atmospheric Christmas market in the old town of Koblenz is Görresplatz. The various Christmas stalls are nicely arranged around the fountain around which a little train rides. Here small children can have a great time. In the middle of the fountain you can see a monument that reflects the history of the city of Koblenz. At the bottom the time of the Middle Ages to at the top the modern times we live in today.

5. Münzplatz

Müntzplatz is today a place where many concerts, fairs and larger events take place, so it is also the location for one of the Christmas markets in Koblenz. It is also a historical square with a lot of history. However, you still see very few old buildings around the square because most of them were destroyed during World War II.

6. Zentralplatz

On Zentralplatz you will find the smallest Christmas market in Koblenz but nevertheless it is also a cozy Christmas market. There is a Ferris wheel for children, several stalls with delicacies and local products. This Christmas market is located in the shopping area of the city and is therefore ideal to combine with a day of shopping.
