The Volkswagen T2 comes from 1979 and is still completely retro 70s in style, which of course totally fits the experience. Even though the Volkswagen bus has been completely converted to an electric campervan, you still experience that nostalgic feeling. And we really mean that etterly, because there is no power steering either. This definitely takes some getting used to.

The campervan can accommodate 4 people and is practically equipped, but remember: it's small but nice. To create sleeping quarters, you slide out the roof and change the seating area. Furthermore, the van is equipped with a refrigerator, gas stove, kitchen inventory and a camping set (table + chairs and an awning). In short, the basic stuff to create a nice camping spot is there.

Electric driving and charging: helpful tips

An electric motorhome requires a slightly different approach than a traditional motorhome. So be well prepared for this. Here are some helpful tips:

  • The range is around 150-200 km per full battery.

  • Charge when the battery falls below 35%.

  • Use the Plugsurfing app to find charging stations on your route.

  • Fully full charging takes an average of 4 to 5 hours at regular charging stations.

  • Charging in campsites is slower, but convenient if you stay in one place for longer periods of time.

Fast charging is not yet possible, so a road trip within the Netherlands is the best choice for now with a Volkswagen T2 van. Fortunately, there are plenty of great places to drive to in the Netherlands.
