Mykonos, the island of beautiful sights, fine beaches and blissful hotspots. If you go on vacation to Mykonos, we definitely recommend exploring a number of different highlights. After all, have you actually been to the Greek island if you haven't seen the iconic Kato Mili Windmills? And this is just one of the beautiful sights on Mykonos!
1. Kato Mili Windmills
The iconic Kato Mili Windmills characterize the Greek island of Mykonos and must be seen without a doubt. You will find the windmills within walking distance from the bustling center of Mykonos Town, namely about 5 minutes from Little Venice. Since this is the main attraction of Mykonos, it is often very crowded. If you go early in the morning you won't find many other tourists, but expect larger groups during the afternoon and evening. Still, one of our favorite times to visit the Kato Mili Windmills is during sunset, despite the crowds.
2. Little Venice
Little Venice is a charming neighborhood in Mykonos Town and is known for its maze of narrow alleys and its snow-white houses. The neighborhood is beautifully situated along the waterfront and you will find some of our favorite hotspots on Mykonos. One popular spot is Kastro's restaurant where you can eat on the waterfront overlooking the Kato Mili Windmills. Furthermore, the Little Venice neighborhood offers many photogenic alleys and cute boutique stores.
3. Paraportiani Church
Paraportiani Church is one of the most famous churches on the island. And with its unusual shapes and beautiful location, it is not surprising that the church passes by in many photos of Mykonos. It is even said to be one of the world's most photographed churches. In short, definitely a beautiful sight on Mykonos!
4. Agia Kyriaki Church
You will find several cute little churches and beautiful squares in Mykonos Town, but if there is one place that impressed us it is the square where the Agia Kyriaki Chruch is located. The typical whitewashed alleys, iconic architecture and bright bougainvillea create the ideal setting for the perfect picture.
5. The most beautiful fruit store on Mykonos
Around the corner from Agia Kyriaki Church, in one of the narrower side streets, you will find the finest fruit and vegetable store on Mykonos. Every morning the pieces of fruit are laid out here one by one. So I am sure you understand that it is fun shooting photos here every day in front of this beautiful blue and white building.
