Relaxing in Valkenburg can only mean one thing. And that is visiting one of the largest thermal wellness centers in the Netherlands: Thermae 2000. A very nice destination for a short getaway at home, but also a very nice place to go offline for a while. Enjoy a digital detox, which I'm sure you too can use from time to time. The highlight of our stay was relaxing in a wine bath while looking out over the magical hilly landscapes of Limburg. In short, relaxing in Valkenburg belongs on your bucket list!

Wellness center Thermae 2000

Thermae 2000 is known by many Dutch people and therefore naturally a popular place to unwind. You will find this versatile wellness center at the top of the Cauberg in Valkenburg. When Thermae 2000 opened its doors in 1989, it was one of the first wellness centers in the Netherlands. The Netherlands. By now there are many more, but still a visit to Thermae 2000 remains unique. Relax in the thermal water from your own source, feel the power of the energetic pyramids and experience the ultimate 'vacation feeling'. Only that is possible here, at Thermae 2000.

The moment you walk into Thermae 2000, your digital detox begins. Are you sleeping in the wellness hotel? Then you will receive your bathrobe and slippers at the reception desk, you are required to leave your phone in the hotel room and step into one of the wonderfully heated baths or saunas. How nice is it that you can do everything in your bathrobe for the upcoming time? From walking through the hotel, the spa and across the sunbathing lawn to eating out in one of the restaurants. The that you're here you go all out in unwind. And then to realize that after your first day at Thermae 2000 you don't have to drive home yet. You sleep in a very nice and comfortable bed in the wellness hotel. This is why a getaway to Thermae 2000 is often described as the wonderful getaway in your own country.

If we choose to plan a day or weekend of wellness, we always make time for a relaxing massage or other fine treatment. Every wellness center has its own package deals, including Thermae 2000. The offer is very varied and focuses not only on treatments, but also on beauty and pampering when it comes to food and drink. For example, there is a very nice Christmas market hotel special where you can combine a visit to Thermae 2000 with a visit to the Christmas market in Valkenburg aan de Geul. Great fun to get into the festive mood this way!

Wine bath hotel package

We love wine, and since we know that bathing in a wine bath has its benefits, we are totally sold. By the way, you don't actually bathe in pure red wine, but you immerse yourself in the wine pulp of the Monarch grape and in grape seed oil. The skin of the Monarch grape contains the substance resveratrol and this is one of the most powerful antioxidants that protects your skin from pollution and negative effects of UV radiation. An added bonus is that it firms up your skin and also fights wrinkles. So, what more could you want? 

Bathing in a wine bath at Thermae 2000 we experienced as very relaxing and laid-back. While the bubbles were on and our glass was filled with red wine - from the South Limburg winemaker St. Martinus - we enjoyed the amazing views of the hilly landscape of Limburg. It felt like we were in a foreign country. 

The wine bath hotel package is based on two people. The price for this package starts from €164.50 per person. This includes overnight stay, breakfast buffet, two full days of access to the spa and wellness facilities, wine bath treatment of 50 minutes, glass of wine from St. Martinus, drinks board in The Lounge Bar and free participation in infusions, floating and aquafit.
