This is not surprising, because with Rotterdam being the port city of the Netherlands, we Rotterdammers love all the goodies that come from the sea. Are you looking for the best fish restaurants in Rotterdam? The 10 seafood restaurants below are our favorite spots in the city. You can sit down for the tastiest fruits de mer, oysters and much more!
1. Restaurant Sea Salt
One of the most famous seafood restaurants in Rotterdam is restaurant Sea salt. You will find this hotspot in the beautiful Scheepvaartkwartier with a location close to the Meuse River. The restaurant has one Michelin star which of course is an amazing recognition for the cuisine. It goes without saying that you will eat delicious daily fresh fish and seafood, prepared for you with incredible passion and creativity. Despite the fact that you can eat at a high level here, this does not immediately mean that it is a stiff restaurant. Just the opposite, eating out at Zeezout restaurant is an atmospheric and culinary experience. So our tip is definitely to opt for the surprise menu. The way to have your senses stimulated!

2. Pesca
One seafood restaurant in Rotterdam that stands out head and shoulders above the rest is Pesca. It is not a traditional restaurant where you sit down and order from the menu, but rather a very new and cool concept where you go by the fish market. Here you indicate which fresh fish you want to eat and how many grams. This is also weighed for you on the spot. Have you ordered your fish? Then you walk past the store for a nice matching wine. Once at the table, the enjoyment can begin!

3. A La Plancha
One of our favorite seafood restaurants in Rotterdam is the summer pop-up A La Plancha. The restaurant, which has an insane location on Noordereiland, is only open on sunny days during the summer months. You sit here on the pontoon of the old railroad bridge and can enjoy a beautiful view of the skyline of Rotterdam. All while sharing a delicious fish dish with friends. A La Plancha's menu may vary daily as it depends on the fish caught that same day.

4. Bar Pulpo
Rotterdam's Scheepvaartkwartier is full of tasty hotspots, including another gem of a seafood restaurant: Bar Pulpo. A place where good food and conviviality are important. On the menu you will of course find fresh fish dishes, but also smaller dishes with vegetables and even meat. So you can even eat out here with the friend who does not like fish, ideal! Of course our advice is to choose a nice fish dish, you didn't end up in this seafood bar in Rotterdam for nothing. Extra nice to know is that everything here is prepared in the charcoal oven, yum!

5. Fish on the Dike
A well-known and beloved spot in Kralingen is the seafood restaurant Fish on the Dike. On summer days, the terrace surrounding the iconic corner building quickly fills up. Fish on the Embankment is popular for its fresh fish and flavorful and simple dishes. The menu is seasonal, which makes it extra fun to return more often, and is also very affordable. Definitely recommended for a casual evening out for dinner!

6. Salmon House
Just outside the city center of Rotterdam you will find the Salmon House. A beautifully restored Art Nouveau building on Rotterdam's river Maas. Did you already know that this place exists since 1863? The unique architecture and historic building ensure that eating out at the Salmon House is a special experience. And that's not to mention the fantastic view and delicious seafood. Since the renovation, the dishes at the Salmon House are just a little different, and without a doubt a lot tastier.

7. Local Cape
The Deliplein on Katendrecht is known as a Valhalla among food lovers. You will find about 20 restaurants and bars, and good food is guaranteed here. And that you can find a good seafood restaurant here is no surprise. Local Cape is the place for fruits de mer, mussels and other fresh fish dishes. But the menu also includes vegetable and vegetarian dishes. What characterizes this hotspot is that they only work with wild-caught or organically grown fish. Furthermore, all other products used here are also organic, including thus also the wine (natural wines from France, among others, for example).

A reasonable new addition to the Shipping Quarter is the seafood restaurant River Bar. The restaurant is located in a beautiful building on the Maas River and offers good views of Kop van Zuid and the Erasmus Bridge from the terrace. Although you will find dishes other than fish dishes on the menu, the fresh fish here is really our tip. The concept of the River Bar is that you can find all kinds of flavors and variations from bars and restaurants along European rivers. This immediately piques your interest, doesn't it?

9. Restaurant Langoest
Despite living in the heart of Rotterdam for years, restaurant Lobster until recently an unknown hotspot for us, but that has now changed. This cool restaurant on the Boompjes stands out for its beautiful interior and lovely location close to the Meuse River. The menu is full of fresh fish dishes. Lobster, oysters, octopus ... you name it and Langoest has it. You sit here wonderfully and the experience is as good as the food!

10. Kaat Mossel
A seafood restaurant in Rotterdam that really shouldn't be missing from this list is of course Kaat Mossel. An icon among seafood restaurants. You will find this hotspot in a beautiful historic building on the marina of the Admiralty Quay. For more than 30 years you can come here for the tastiest mussels, seafood and other fresh fish dishes. We love this hotspot for its casual Rotterdam atmosphere, high quality food and reasonable prices!
