The owner of Brasserie Springer has chosen to turn the restaurant into a day care place. Thus, the restaurant provides work for people who are struggling in the labor market.
3. Winery Huub Oostendorp
In Schoonhoven you will find many characteristic buildings, and what makes these buildings so nice are the stories behind them. This is how we ended up at Wijnkoperij Huub Oostendorp where we were cheerfully and enthusiastically welcomed by the two owners Huub and Marcel. At the very back of the store you can find an old photograph showing that this building has always been used to sell alcoholic beverages. This photo is at least 100 years old and has been owned by Huub Oostendorp since 1982. The Wine Shop sells more than 800 varieties of wines. What makes this property even more fun is the wine cellar. At the (literal) lowest point of Schoonhoven there are lots of old bottles. We even found some from our birth year 1994!
4. Pledge 96
Just the light blue color of the facade immediately catches your attention. It feels a bit like walking into a vintage store in Paris, but nothing could be further from the truth. For those who love vintage interiors, this place is a Valhalla. Building 96 is full of refurbished furniture, vintage showpieces, wooden cabinets, silver accessories, hats and much more. It is wonderful to wander through this store.
5. PUUR Flowers & Indoors
If you love flowers and interior design, PUUR Bloemen & Binnen is the place to be in Schoonhoven. The beautiful corner building on Kerkstraat is a picture to behold. The window is full of large and small plants. Outside are nice benches and pots, and inside you can indulge in the perfect mix of flowers and interior.
6. At Sophie Delicatessen
When you walk into a deli and water immediately runs into your mouth, you know you're in the right place. Everything in Bij Sophie's store looks blissful. It is the place in Schoonhoven to have an elaborate drinks board put together or simply to take something delicious for home.
Tip: try the local beer Argentum with of course a matching piece of cheese!

This restaurant in Schoonhoven has a beautiful location on the river De Lek. It is an atmospheric hotspot to end a day in Schoonhoven. Especially on sunny days you can spend hours here on the terrace overlooking De Lek and the many boats passing by.
