Where do I stay on Kos?
1. Kos Town
Kos town is not only the largest town on the island of Kos, but also the most touristic destination. The center of Kos town is cozy with many nice restaurants, bars and stores. Along the harbor you walk along the boulevard between the numerous terraces and the old town is also nice to stroll through. Here you will find one of the most beautiful sights of Kos: the St. John's Castle. This beautiful castle is among the few medieval remains of the town. You can also go to the beach in Kos town. About 150-200 meters from Mandraki harbor, the beach of Kos town begins.
2. Psalidi and Lámbi
As you go more south from Kos town you will find yourself in tourist town of Psalidi. This village is also considered a tourist district of Kos town. Therefore, it runs almost seamlessly into each other. This also applies to Lámbi, located on the north side of Kos town. Many Dutch tourists, in particular, stay here.
We spent the night during our stay on Kos in Mitsis Ramira Beach Hotel in Psalidi. This is a luxurious all-inclusive hotel with beautiful rooms, excellent service and all the amenities you need. 3. Kardamena
The lively resort of Kardamena is located on the south coast of Kos. Kardamena is especially popular among young people and water sports enthusiasts. You can practice many different water sports here and there are many nice bars and nightclubs. Kardamena is the second busiest destination on the island after Kos town. During the summer period, this resort is mostly visited by Dutch, Belgian and British people. Kardamena is not the most authentic destination on Kos, but it is a nice place if you are looking for sun, beach and a lot of fun.
4. Tigaki
Tigaki is one of the most beautiful and most visited resorts on the island of Kos. It is located about 11 kilometers from Kos town and features a beautiful sandy beach. It is therefore the ideal destination for beach lovers. Because the beach slopes slowly into the sea, Tigaki is a safe choice for a vacation with children. At the edge of the beach is a small promenade with a number of stores, restaurants, cafes, terraces and bars. Tigaki is small-scale, but 100% vacation feeling is guaranteed.
5. Marmari
Next to Tigaki you will find the resort of Marmari. The sandy beach of Marmari is one of the most beautiful in all of Kos. It is a beach with white sand and dunes overgrown with trees. The salt pans of Alykes can also be found here, where you can spot flamingos from October to April. You will find in Marmari, among other things, the magnificent OKU Hotel. This luxurious hotel is truly a gem on the island of Kos.
6. Zia
One of the most beautiful villages on Kos is the colorful mountain village of Zia. Zia is about a half-hour drive from Kos town and is one of the most authentic destinations on Kos. The traditional village breathes Greece and you are therefore surrounded by nice souvenir shops, cozy tavernas and art galleries. You can also admire the most beautiful sunrise and sunset on Kos. If you ask us, the mountain village is one of the most beautiful places to stay on the island. Although you are quite a bit away from the beach, there are many accommodations with a swimming pool. With a rental car the coastal towns are also fairly quick to reach.
