1. Walking through atmospheric Bronkhorst

Although Bronkhorst officially has city rights, it feels more like a cozy and charming village. Its charming atmosphere and historic character make it a place that invites you to explore on foot. It's really not big, so you'll soon have seen the town.

The centerpiece of Bronkhorst is the characteristic church, visible from almost every angle. On the square you will find a still working water pump, a charming detail that enhances the historical character. Around the church you will find beautifully preserved old Dutch houses with unique facades and former city farms. These properties breathe history and are all photogenic. If, like us, you love this typical architectural style, you can indulge yourself here.

2. Fun places to visit in Bronkhorst

Besides the atmospheric streets and historic buildings, there are a number of special places you should not miss during your visit to Bronkhorst. These are our tips:

  • The Jewish cemetery - A quiet place with a special history. Bronkhorst's Jewish cemetery is located just outside the town and is surrounded by greenery. It is a serene place where you can take a moment to reflect on the past. Its simple stones and quiet location make it an impressive sight.

  • The Art Pumping Station - For lovers of modern art, Het Kunstgemaal is highly recommended. Located in a former pumping station, this gallery offers a mix of contemporary artworks and a beautiful view of the IJssel River. There are regularly changing exhibitions, so there is always something new to discover.

  • The castle hill - Once stood here the castle of Bronkhorst, an important structure that gave the town its name. Although the castle itself no longer exists, you can still enjoy the view on the hill where it once stood and imagine how impressive the castle must have been. It is a place where history and nature come together.
