Dive into the world of lighting, try the tastiest pastries, behold the impressive street art and become one with the urban vibes in Strijp-S. Want to spend a weekend in Eindhoven? Then stay in a hip hotel to get even more out of your visit to Eindhoven. In short, there is plenty to do and experience in Eindhoven!
1. Dive into the world of lighting experiences at Motion Experience
Eindhoven is the light city of the Netherlands and therefore our first tip for Eindhoven is an activity where you dive into the world of light experience. In fact, since August 2020, Eindhoven has been enriched with a crazy experience: Motion Experience. Here you step into a dream world where art and light experiences take center stage. There are various installations and projection images that take you to another dimension. Let yourself be completely overwhelmed by emotions and imaginations as you listen to the sounds through a headset. But also be sure to be guided by the movements of the light. This is all we can reveal, we leave the rest of the experience entirely up to you!
Stay for a bite to eat at Dinner in Motion
Want to make your visit to Motion Experience even more unique? Then Dinner in Motion which you have to experience. In our eyes, this restaurant concept is one of the most special in the Netherlands. After all, you dine here in a 360-degree restaurant while observing the most beautiful images all around you. By the way, this happens not only on the walls, but also at your table. It is an insane culinary journey!
2. Cycle past Eindhoven's best street art spots
Scattered throughout the city of Eindhoven you will find a lot of impressive street art. A fun way to discover the different artistic drawings is to rent a bike. We rented bikes at our hotel, Hotel The Match and viewed Eindhoven from a completely different angle.
One of the nicest street art locations in Eindhoven can be found at 18 Septemberplein. A blue-pink wall with beautiful arches, this is Eindhoven's bicycle basement. Other fun spots are:
- The graffiti wall near the PSV stadium, also known as the Wall of Fame (this is what you cycle past when you go to Strijp-S);
- Bear Pit, a bike-traffic plaza where new works are added every year;
- Silly Walk, a cool tunnel with laughable series of street art drawings.
3. Experience the urban vibes in the Strijp-S neighborhood.
The neighborhood of Strijp-S must be seen and experienced when you visit the city of Eindhoven. There is a typical urban atmosphere, which may remind you of the city of Berlin. The heart of Strijp-S consists of large, industrial buildings filled with fun hotspots and stores. Of course you will also find cool street art here. Be sure to take a look inside at Vershal het Veem where you can get fresh produce and/or tasty dishes from all the little stands.
In Strijp-S you will find some of the nicest hotspots in Eindhoven, such as the ice cream store Intelligentia Taste Rooms. You can find these, along with more bars and restaurants, in our article with The best hotspots in Eindhoven.
4. Visit the Piet Hein Eek complex
Piet Hein Eek is an industrial place where you are surrounded by design, art and culture. You will find a workshop, store, restaurant, hotel, showroom, art gallery and office. All under one roof. Above all, it's a place where you can browse around. Our favorite place is the concept store that sells all kinds of cool gadgets. Visiting Eindhoven on a summer day? Then the roof terrace of the restaurant is a nice tip for lunch or as a location for drinks.
The Piet Hein Eek Hotel is a cool location to sleep during a city trip to Eindhoven. By the way, the location is outside the city center.
5. Stay overnight at hotel The Match
Why not turn a day in Eindhoven into a weekend in Eindhoven? That way you can optimally spend your time in the city and also discover as many of the beautiful sights as possible. The hotel where we stayed in Eindhoven is Hotel The Match, a cool hotel in the city center.
The rooms at The Match are quite affordable (from €65 per night). In terms of style and decor, we can't help but say that the hotel completely fits the look and feel of Eindhoven. The rooms are minimalist decorated with nice details like marble prints. The walls are full of street art drawings, some of which you can find in the city.
